Effect of data length, spin-up period and spatial model resolution on fully distributed hydrological model calibration in the Moselle basin

Subjective decisions in hydrologic model calibration can have drastic impacts on our understanding of basin processes and simulated fluxes. Here, we present a multicase approach to determine three pillars an appropriate hydrological configuration, i.e. data length, spin-up period, spatial resolution, using spatially distributed meso-scale (mHM) together with dynamically dimensioned search (DDS) algorithm Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) for the Moselle basin. The results show that 10-year 2-year 4-km resolution are reduce computational burden while simulating streamflow decent performance. Although length related extent quality data, period is dependent, analysing combined effects further allowed us understand interactions these usually overlooked mHM configuration.
